An original take on "something wicked this way comes" (the quote, not the Bradbury novel). Vincent Bivona's invented creatures are different and deliciously horrific. Evil, otherworldly creatures seem tame in comparison to humans turning into something awful. Especially when they're people you know. I could not stop reading. Even when the story switches to someone other than the protagonist (Greg Davidson) I cared about the characters. The author's use of dialog to reveal character is well done and sounds authentic. All the characters in the story were real people, with pasts and--those who survive in the end--futures. I do think the ending is a bit abrupt, but I didn't need a lot of explanation to understand it. Can't wait to read another of Bivona's books.

It started well but about mid way through it became ponderous, repetitive and predictable...three things you don;t want in a horror novel.
The prose is good and some of the character developments are thorough but they were a little too cliched IMHO. I almost gave it away before getting to the end but decided to "hang in there". I did unfortunately feel let down by the finale.
However, I will happily read other titles by this author as I think they have potential.
Great book. Amazing character depth especially from such a young author.Talented to say the least. I'm reading another one that got mixed up with my kindle order that is a crime drama, completely different genre yet exceptional none the less! Someone to look out for in the future as a bestseller!
Did not know about this author when ordering the book but it sounded good and good it was. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story, getting to know the characters and feeling what they were experiencing. Great page turner and good ending. I especially liked the recap by the author himself.
Page turner for sure and great on the format! Ending was a bit hard to follow and I had to go back and re-read parts of the climax, but all in all, good book!
Wow ! I honestly don't know what more I can say. I really enjoyed this story. It has a lot going for it. Even though it's not an entirely new concept to have an author's story become real I do like the monsters and mayhem in this one. And poor Greg just thought he was going crazy! The sheriff got exactly what he deserved for being so stupid.
The beginning of this book starts of pretty good, Then I don't know what happens, This book all of a sudden takes a nose dive I could not put it down but I had to know how this train wreck ended. I did not care about the characters and the one lady is always fainting give me a break! What was the second coming??? ohh that must have been because one of the characters was a split personality religious freak. I did not like this book. No plot or reason to why any of this story happens, and to top it off the ending gives you nothing. Total waste of time.
This is just another book that has me torn between wanting to give it 1 star and wanting to give it 5 stars! For sure, I was unable to put it down until I was done just because I had to see what was next, and so I guess that was probably the point of it. BUT - some things didn't add up, I never really got why its called "Second Coming" and the whole religion thing didn't really tie in at the end for me.
All in all, it was still a good book and some parts kept me on the edge of my seat. The descriptions of the 'creatures' was enough to give me a thrill.
