The Emerson/Peabody family take us in a wonderful ride of Egyptian archeology, humor, spies, thieves, murder and mayhem. This is also the time of women suffragettes in England. Amelia also has to deal with prejudices she didn't realize she had regarding Egyptians. It is a satisfying read on many levels, perhaps my favorite in the series. The narration by Barbara Rosenblat is superb.

These books tend to be wordy, which I usually find entertaining, but this one seemed a bit excessively so. Also, one of the things I really liked about them was the affection between the characters. This one seemed to be lacking in that. Not that it wasn’t there somewhat, but it seemed perfunctory.
But I will read anything this author writes
I have enjoyed the Amelia Peabody books and this is no exception
At this point I have read almost all of the Ameila Peabody series of mystery adventures in Eqyptian archeology. They are entertaining and enjoyable. This book was the culmination of Peabody's adventures with her family seeking royal tombs in Egypt when one of the most famous tombs is discovered. As usual the plot thickens with abductions and murders. The author is a university trained archeologist and an entertaining author. I loved these books. I plan to read her others about new characters.
People who enjoyed the other books by Amelia and Emerson are surely to enjoy this book. I truly in
Joy them. I continue to read as they come out. Our main characters are quite talkative. Sometimes it confesses to being quite carried away with one thing or another. I wouldn't be without them.
Elizabeth Peters writes so well. She always has at least one mystery, plus her charming cast of characters. I find it amazing that she can make Amelia so opinionated and over-confident. Amelia could be overbearing and obnoxious, but she's funny, and she expresses her tremendous love for her husband and son. The stories are fun and set mostly in Egypt. Great fun!
this book got me into a lot of trouble as a reader / traveler. i was exhausted at the end of each chapter. i climbed pyramids, which has lead me to making some of my own pyramids to spread the all seeing eye in an effort to promote health, wealth and wisdom. in my imagination i have explored tombs, caught criminals and can't wait to read the next book.

i am 67 years old, travel confined to some extent, how ever i still travel in my dreams. if you can no longer hold a book due to arthritis get a kindle fire 6" and continue your dreams.
If you love any of the Elizabeth Peters Amelia Peabody Books, you will love them all. My favorite series ever! Truly is Raiders of the Lost Ark married with Sherlock Holmes.
