A SECOND BOOK THAT IS BETTER THAN THE FIRST. CONGRATULATIONS Ms RYALS YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN!! The story picks up exactly where the first book ended, gotta love that. Dayton is growing into her own and Marcas is SEXIER THAN EVER wait is that even possible! THERE is character development and growth across the board: CONOR, MONROE, LUTHER, AMBER. My least favorite character, SOPHIA, is as irritating as ever, wait the angel is my least favorite character, who'd thought! One expects such appalling behavior from a Villain but surely not an angel! BUT she is just plain jealous and it shows in the most "ungodly" ways! ANYWAY, DEAR READER You are in for one "HELL OF A THRILLING RIDE" pun intended. :) (please excuse the language I guess I've spent too much time with Dayton, but I just couldn't resist!)

RANSOM is filled with action, thrills, adventure, humor, touching romance and surprises. I don't want to give anything away, but if you like paranormal romance that is decidedly not run of the mill than you have to read this series. I just finished reading book #3 and will review it as well.

I don't write a lot of reviews partly because it takes away from the time I could be reading another book and partly because I don't consider myself good at writing reviews and some of the reviews I read clearly put mine to shame but I do know what I like and I just try to tell a prospective reader what I liked, in generalities, about a particular book and hopefully if they like the same general elements in their reading choices they will enjoy whatever book I'm recommending. But this Series was so refreshingly interesting that I had to stop and tell you guys what I thought about this book and the Series! So it is with that in mind, that I highly recommend RANSOM, as well as the entire REDEMPTION trilogy. Yes, the books should be read in order since each sequel picks up where it predecessor leaves off.

this series continues to captivate me. It was even better than the first. Not Heaven or Hell can separate Dayton and Marcas. They've become so much closer the longer they are bonded to each other. Dayton has to face more than just her immediate fears in this book. she faces her fealings. Feelings she didn't think she would ever know. she cares for marcas and knows she shouldnt but can't help herself. He is the only one whos has been completely honest and truthful to her and he's a demon.
Marcas also has to come to terms with his feelings but being the stoic Demon we still don't see much emotion from him. He is still the same sexy as hell talk dark and brooding demon as always. But that's what we love about him right?
A demon and an angel.. who would of ever thought. no one wants them together because together they are too strong. They tip the scales of heaven and hell. they are not supposed to be but yet here they are and neither one wants to leave the other.

at the end its all back to Damon and what he wont to for power. What will he do? Who will be the one to stop this war?
Ransom is the second book in a series. You absolutely must read Redemption first because this book picks up right where that one left off without much explanation of what came before. I prefer that in sequels because I believe books that are part of a series should be read in order and not really need to explain themselves. However, readers who read the first book long ago or who've never read it at all may feel a bit lost at times.

Ryals continues to strengthen and develop her characters throughout both books, effectively bringing them to life. By placing them in more intense situations, they are successfully pushed to their limits. The descriptions were well done too. In book one, I was able to picture and recognize many of the places described in the book partly because of my own experiences a high school football game, a teenager's bedroom (even if it was in an abbey), a club, etc. In book two, I had to rely on the descriptions given, especially regarding places no mortal has ever been.

The fast paced story kept my interest. My favorite parts were the interactions between Dayton Blainey and Marcas Craig.
I read this twice. I truly enjoyed the first book, Redemption, and all the characters and plot details, but Ransom is phenomenal.

One of my favorite things about the story is Dayton's relationship with Marcas, which has been stepped up a notch in this book. Ryals does a masterful job of forcing the two together in tension filled situations where little touches and looks lets the reader in on the bond between them before the characters even realize it. I wanted to squeal every time Dayton dug her nails into Marcas' leg because she's afraid of heights and I secretly hoped he kept pulling her to him because he wanted/needed to be near her, not because she was cold or needed protection.

All of my favorite characters make an appearance, as well as some great new ones. There are subtle hints of the storylines of Monroe and Luther, of Connor and his new charge, and I found myself filling in all the blanks during the hours I wasn't able to read. (yeah, I didn't get a lot of work done while reading this)

The plot is fantastic, good versus evil with tons of blurry lines, love, sacrifice, endless danger, and tangled, tricky relationships. The heroine is strong, but not so much she doesn't worry or is never afraid, a realistic strong. And then, when she's in the face of the worst, most terrifying thing, she shines.

Ransom has only made me want more of Dayton and Marcas's story, it will be agony waiting for book three (sigh). This book was solid action, perfectly balance with a little humor and romance. If I could give it more stars, I would.
